Testimonials from Recent Grant Recipients:
"I am a retired FBI Agent injured in the GWOT while serving alongside Naval Special Warfare in 2005 as a tactical EMBED. My outward injuries required almost three years to recover before being able to redeploy. While on duty I was concerned with what was evident on the outside, never dealing with the trauma experienced on the inside. After retirement it was time to address the ‘invisible wounds of war’. In my pursuit of addressing the TBI I experienced in Afghanistan, I came across 'The Phoenix Fund’. I learned of Will’s willingness to help offset the expenses for first-responders. The assistance more easily allowed me to attend the retreat where counseling, and other non-traditional treatments were provided. I am thankful to have been selected as a scholarship recipient from The Phoenix Fund as the scholarship provided multiple sessions with coaches specifically attuned to issues facing first-responders. Since the treatment headaches I have dealt with for twenty years have subsided lifting a significant burden I would have never thought possible.
Thank you Will and The Phoenix Fund for your generosity."

“In life, especially as a first responder, we think that we have things under control in our life and almost crave the control. However, sometimes life has other choices. When I felt that I had exhausted many options, and my stubbornness wouldn't allow me to push forward without help, I reached out to The Phoenix Fund.. I can truly say that I was in a dark place and I'm not sure where I would be or what I would be doing if I had not gone this route. The Phoenix Fund helped to send me to a place with like minded people who had many of the same difficulties I did. I was able to face many of the difficulties within myself and confront them with courage. This is a journey that I have begun walking and if it wasn't for The Phoenix Fund I don't know that I could have or would have ever began changing my life.
Forever Granteful!"

"The Phoenix Healing Fund absolutely changed my life. Prior to reaching out and connecting with the Phoenix Healing Fund I was hopeless and very depressed. I was extremely afraid of leaping into a therapeutic journey but to my surprise it was the BEST experience of my life. They have something special and do it right. Will personally reaching out to me and explaining to me the process made the decision an easy one. He truly cares for the healing of those in need.
Without the Phoenix Healing Fund and Will I don’t think I would’ve pulled to the trigger to go get the help I needed. Before my journey I dreaded the future. Today I can’t help but wake up early and enjoy my days. Everyday alive is a good day!"

There was a time when I was struggling in silence. I was dealing with depression, anxiety, and addiction, and felt like I was failing in every role that mattered most to me—as a husband, a father, and a law enforcement officer. I carried the weight and the scars from the job every day and convinced myself that asking for help meant weakness. Inside, I felt broken and lost, unsure of whether I’d make it over the retirement line and if things could ever change.
I reached out when I had nowhere else to turn. Will Treadwell at the Phoenix Fund graciously extended a hand and met me with compassion, understanding, and unwavering support. He provided the financial assistance that made treatment possible, but more importantly, gave me mentorship, guidance, and emotional support at a time when I desperately needed it. He connected me to a community of people who truly understood the unique challenges I was facing and made sure I was not alone in my struggle.
Because of the Phoenix Fund, I was able to enter a treatment program that would have never been available to me otherwise. Through their support, I began my journey to heal, rebuild my relationships, and rediscover purpose in my life and career.
The Phoenix Fund didn’t just help me get treatment—He helped me reclaim my life and begin to heal. I am forever grateful for their commitment to helping first responders find hope, healing, and a path forward when everything feels lost.
